The Artist
Sun-soaked moments from the Sunshine Coast to Palm Springs
Inspiration
Hi — welcome.
My work is inspired by the sun-soaked lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast, Palm Springs, and Southern California, and the clean, timeless look of mid-century modern design. My work focuses on everyday moments — quiet time by the pool, warm afternoons, soft light, and scenes that feel relaxed, familiar, and easy to enjoy.
Swimming pools, sun umbrellas, classic cars, and figures at rest appear often in my paintings. These scenes are grounded in real places and real moments, and each one carries a sense of story. Sometimes it's a pause in the day, sometimes a private moment of calm — small slices of life that feel personal without being dramatic.
"I paint the kind of moments you don’t rush through — warm light, still time, and space to breathe."
Warmth, light, and those in-between moments
Approach
Colour and light play a big role in my work. I'm drawn to warm palettes and the way sunlight creates subtle shifts of shadow across figures, water, and architecture. I use a painterly approach to keep things soft and natural, allowing the light to shape the scene rather than overworking details. The goal is always warmth and balance, not perfection.
Many of my paintings feature female figures, often shown in quiet, reflective moments. These portraits are intimate and calm, capturing a sense of ease and confidence rather than performance. I'm interested in those in-between moments — when someone is relaxed, lost in thought, or simply enjoying where they are.
While the style is rooted in mid-century modern influences, I try to keep the feeling timeless rather than tied to a single era. The scenes reflect a modern lifestyle, one that values slowing down, being present, and enjoying simple pleasures. Clean compositions and soft brushwork help keep the work approachable and easy to live with.
Place & Intention
I work from my studio on the Sunshine Coast, where I spend most of my time painting and refining ideas. Although much of my inspiration comes from Palm Springs, I'm always thinking about how each artwork will live in someone's home. I want my paintings to bring warmth, light, and atmosphere into a space — something that feels comfortable and familiar, never intimidating.
Art that feels good to live with
The Aim
At the heart of my work is a simple aim: to create paintings that feel good to live with. Art that brings a sense of calm, warmth, and quiet enjoyment into everyday spaces, capturing those small, beautiful moments we all recognise.
