Hi, I'm Jarrod.

I’m an artist with a passion for capturing the beauty and nostalgia of Southern California's mid-century modernist architecture and the vibrant, fun-loving lifestyle that comes with it. I have a studio here on the Sunshine Coast where I spend most of my time creating artwork that reflects the essence of this wonderful lifestyle.

My paintings often embrace the summer vibe theme, showcasing those things we attribute to Palm Springs. Swimming pools with retro style pool floats and sun umbrellas, classic cars, known there colloquially as ‘party boats’. You'll also see sun-bathers in floppy sun hats, lounging poolside with a cocktail - it's all part of the fun, carefree lifestyle that I love to capture in my work.

My art is all about bringing the energy and spirit of mid-century modernism to life. To me, these images evoke a sense of carefree joy and relaxation that is so important in our busy lives.

It's amazing to see how admired these themes have become and how they fit so well into this contemporary design aesthetic we find so popular today. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share my passion with others, and I'm always excited to see where my art will take me next.

previous life:

As an artist who received discouragement from their high school guidance counsellor regarding the pursuit of a career in the arts, and so somehow chose to pursue a career as a house painter instead I can say that there are surprisingly many transferable skills between the two… lol

One of the most notable connections is my understanding and appreciation of colour. This knowledge has translated seamlessly into my art practice, allowing me to utilise colour to create vibrant and balanced compositions.

Additionally, I feel like my experience gave me a depth of appreciation for the power of colour to transform a space or convey a particular mood. I now approach my art with this same intention, using colour to evoke emotion and captivate the viewer.

personal life:

I married my beautiful wife Kristen after meeting in Noosa many years ago, we are both animal lovers who enjoy the simple things yet have become so enamoured with midcentury modernism our home is beginning to resemble many of the themes appearing in my Art, it’s truly coming full circle.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my work a little better.
